Measurable results across all subjects

 

This course presents a number of engaging team and pair work CLIPs (Cooperative Learning Interaction Patterns) which facilitate understanding, retention of rules and facts and correct application of rote procedures, including SPaG for primary schools.

 

By the end of the full 6 hour course participating teachers will be able to support their teaching with a number of engaging group and pair work interaction patterns to:

 

  • activate schemata in relation to topics and tasks
  • use CL to discover solutions
  • monitor learning and thinking processes to provide relevant on-the-fly teacher response
  • facilitate
  • effective task work in pairs and teams
  • creative writing, skim, scan and intensive reading, in English and foreign languages
  • Higher Level Thinking Skills; enhancement and rote learning integration
  • homework checking
  • cross-class knowledge sharing
  • retention of rules and facts
  • memorising and training of correct application of rote procedures e.g. mathematical formula, how to use a foreign language dictionary or steps in conducting scientific experiments.

 

 

Basic course total time: 6 hours.

 

Delivery: 2 x 3 or 3 x 2 hour twilights at a venue of your choice.

 

Key stage: All, including tertiary education. Content examples are tailored to your needs.

Lesson plan integration: Using Cooperative Learning, participants will reflect on ways to practically integrate the course content into their individual subjects and classes, for instant implementation the following day. £150 per hour for up to 20 participating teachers.

 

Coaching: Tailored to your needs, a follow up coaching session may include lesson observation, feedback on planning and delivery, model lesson delivery, fine tuning of individual teachers or focus on specific subjects, topics or events in your school, such as using Cooperative Learning to stage events which involve the wider community around your institution. £75 per hour.

 

The Primer is an excellent supplement to the Skills & Mastery course.
