Barking & Dagenham College

" I found the clarity and directness of the approach refreshing.”

Barking & Dagenham College London

Life skills and subject content

The first CPD to this 12,000+ college was delivered on 2 January 2018 to 200 delegates and introduced the versatile benefits of Cooperative Learning in a wide variety of college subjects, ranging from bricklaying, via performing arts, to English and Maths.

Subject content aside, in relation to learning, the acquisition of relevant life skills, heightened engagement, and a sense of accountability, ownership and empowerment was a key focus (More on Cooperative Learning & social skills). A further and very specific target was to secure effective formative and summative assessment through unobtrusive monitoring to give teachers unique insights into the variation and scope of individual students’ thinking.

Great care was taken to present CLIPs as not "another thing" but for what they are: a simple, effective delivery tool for relevant objectives.

Activities were tailored in collaboration with BDC to slot directly into current plans, require no setup of rooms or teams, nor purchase of special materials.

"I enjoyed the session presented by Jakob. I always think a measure of any training is

whether it makes you do anything differently as a result."
